Somos parte del barrio: Memoria barrial como experiencia transformadora

Abstract

In September 2022, the internship with the "Seedbed of Transformative Experiences for a New Colombia" began, led by social sciences teacher Juan Pablo Arce from Nueva Colombia District Educational Institution, located in the Suba neighborhood. The internship focused on three main themes: gender-based violence, neighborhood memory, and the strengthening of peace scenarios and understanding of the armed conflict in Colombia. To address these themes, two artistic techniques were proposed. The first one involved the use of visual arts, specifically muralism and urban art, to work on neighborhood memory and the armed conflict. The second technique was based on the craft of embroidery, led by the organization Women Making Memory - Suba Sewing Workshop, to address gender and peace issues.
