Resumen
The research “Communication with a gender perspective in women’s group from community and independent radio stations” was carried out through a multi-sited ethnography of three communication groups: La Ciudad en Voz de Mujeres, Mujeres de mi Barrio and La Voz de la Mujer. Based on these three experiences, the research identified the contribution of each one to the defence of gender equality. The thesis was built upon three theoretical categories: collective action, feminist movement ant the influence of radio in popular education. First, each one of the trajectories of the women’s group was characterized through their biographies, the stories of their founders, the contents of their radio programs and the community projects resulting from their communicative exercises. Then, we identified the contributions of these processes to promote communication with a gender perspective, especially to achieve a broader participation of women in media landscape, and to address issues missing in traditional media.
