Abstract

During the period when we were developing the internship with title “Diseño de un sistema de información geográfica en el tratamiento de cultivos ilícitos y sus problemáticas sociales en la zona del Catatumbo – Norte De Santander limítrofe con el estado De Zulia Venezuela como apoyo a las Fuerzas Militares de Colombia” we collaborated with the Colombian National Army more exactly in la Escuela de Inteligencia y Contrainteligencia Brigadier General Ricardo Charry Solano, In which in the first part of the project it was verified the beginning of the processes of the timetable stipulated in the preliminary draft, which correspond to the realization of the determination of the variables object of analysis of the border areas between Colombia – Venezuela (Catatumbo), gather all the information both available and requested and published by the UN, verify and order the information to start processing it and digitize the layers from which it was not possible to collect information and supplement the missing information, in this one It makes the decision as to how the information coming from the army will be organized and the confidentiality with which this information will be treated. In the second part of the project it was verified the beginning of the missing processes of the timetable stipulated in the preliminary draft, that correspond to the determine the scopes of the GIS, the conceptualization and design of the database, spatial analysis of the data by means Of the ArcGIS Software, generating the resulting cartography and the final report with all the information, data and products obtained in order to facilitate further analysis of the area, for the national army. The aforementioned was carried out in parallel with support in the generation of cartography necessary so that the National Army officials could develop the different processes related to intelligence and counterintelligence of both internal affairs and foreign affairs to the country.
