Abstract

This work is the result of research conducted in order to expose how important it is for the profession of Topographic Engineering implement new academic alternatives . In this paper extensive information on the subject is exposed ; Representative results were obtained and performance Geoserver for Geomatics area was assessed . an alternative with enough features is shown in terms of physical and logical requirements that may be used in the development of the subjects of this area of ​​the curriculum project consists . The primary motivation is the software implementation of open access in order to serve as an incentive to academic and educational community to inquire and go further to the provisions for payment or called proprietary programs because academic freedom is consciousness and it is the root of the invention of new technologies, much needed in academia .
