Resumen
The project focused on creating a business model for manufacturing and distributing side protectors, known as sliders, in the city of Bogotá. This initiative serves as the foundation for launching a potentially profitable venture aimed at solving a current issue in the automotive industry. Based on the knowledge acquired throughout the Industrial Production Engineering program, a detailed study was conducted on the design, manufacturing process, distribution channels, and profitability of the product. In Bogotá, motorcycle use has increased significantly, which has led to a higher demand for safety devices such as side protectors. These accessories not only safeguard the motorcycles but also protect riders in the event of an accident. However, the wide variety of motorcycle brands and models makes finding compatible protectors a major challenge. This situation creates a clear market need for a universal product that can adapt to different motorcycles while ensuring safety and functionality. To address this issue, the project focused on a business plan for the design and production of universal side protectors. A prototype was developed to offer protection for both the rider and the vehicle, with an emphasis on adaptability to various popular brands such as Yamaha, AKT, and Bajaj. Additionally, distribution strategies were proposed through auto repair shops and key retail points, which will help bring this innovative product closer to its target audience. As a result, the prototype was well received by motorcyclists and accessory retailers, standing out for its functionality and versatility. Moreover, the cost analysis confirmed that it is feasible to produce the item on a large scale without compromising quality or profitability.
