Análisis Multitemporal del Retroceso Glaciar en la Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta - Colombia para los Períodos 1986, 1996, 2007 y 2014

Abstract

This research was conducted in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, on the Caribbean region, located northwest of Colombia, for four time periods (1986, 1996, 2007, 2014). Main components, supervised and unsupervised classification: To achieve the objectives, some of the different techniques of digital image processing as compared. Thus by using multispectral images of the TM and OLI sensors on board the Landsat 5 and Landsat 8 satellite, loss in glacier area and percentage of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta was determined. Likewise, these methods of digital image processing were compared and validated with the kappa coefficient, in order to identify and show the best methodology. With this result using a mathematical model, time series and linear regressions allowed us to evaluate the future behavior of the glacier related.
