Resumen
The Faculty of Arts ASAB at the Francisco José de Caldas District University is pleased to share the creations of our community. Graduates, professors, and students from the Curricular Project of Musical Arts present "Un Día" (One Day). The song, in the rhythm of Guabina, tells a story that could be passed down to the next generation, given the quarantine and isolation caused by COVID-19 this year. It is a message of hope that encourages the listener to reflect on how this change in our lives can have positive effects on nature and the environment, and raise awareness in new generations. The song was first launched live on a program that emerged during the quarantine called "Suena que Suena" (It Sounds and Sounds). The singer-songwriter broadcasts the show on her Facebook profile on Sundays at 4:00 p.m., sharing stories and anecdotes from different musical styles and illustrating them by singing samples from these repertoires. Later, some musicians who heard the program and connected with the song suggested recording it in a collaborative effort. The recording would then be edited to showcase the richness of these musical styles and how artists can work together even while isolated. Collaborating on this project were masters Marco Villarreal on the requinto, Juan Carlos Rivas on bass, and Gabriel Chaparro on the tiple and guitar. “Un día vamos a vernos para podernos abrazar…” (One day we will see each other so we can hug…) Mónica Rocha A Colombian singer-songwriter and graduate of the Faculty of Arts ASAB at the District University, Mónica has dedicated her career to researching and teaching singing in various academic and popular musical styles. She is known for bringing a message of hope through her lyrics and for making her concerts a spiritual and reflective experience for both musicians and the audience, all while championing Latin American rhythms in her songs. She has performed at important venues such as the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Theater, the Camarín del Carmen, the Gilberto Alzate Avendaño Foundation, the National Museum, and Simón Bolívar Park. She has also taught singing at El Bosque University, the University of Quindío, and currently at the District University in the Curricular Project of Musical Arts. Last year, she recorded her song “Somos Artistas, No Terroristas” (We Are Artists, Not Terrorists) with ASAB professors and students. The song was composed in response to the attacks on students at ASAB and the disturbances that occurred during student and artistic demonstrations. During the "Andean Cacerolazo," a hundred people and musicians with recognized careers in Colombian Andean music chose to perform this song as one of three emblematic pieces, in order to protest and raise their voices peacefully.
