Resumen
The objective of this research is to analyze the social representations on parental figures held by a group of girls and boys belonging to cycle 3 of the José Antonio Galán and Nicolás Gómez Dávila schools. The research exercise was developed with 8 students between 9 and 11 years old, including two girls and two boys from each school. The research methodology was qualitative with an interpretative approach. For the collection of information, the questionnaire, paired comparison and iconographic register techniques were used, based on Abric's proposal on social representations. As a result, the children's social representations of parental figures were categorized into two categories: concept and image. In this topic, protection, attitudes and longings stand out as central nuclei. All this is strongly linked to a concept of parenthood associated with care, protection and, in particular, with emotional support and the promotion of a series of habits consolidated as part of a harmonious coexistence in society.
