Resumen
CLIL to support sex education is a qualitative case study research carried out in a tenth grade composed of 36 students at a public institution called Institución Educativa Distrital Villa Rica. The purpose of this study is to depict students’ perspectives before and after taking a set of four lessons with the topic: Sex Education, using Content and Language Integrated Learning methodology (CLIL). These lessons focused on the development of the writing skill with content emphasis on contraceptive methods. Our interest in teaching sex education comes from the lack of sexual education in the Colombian context and students lack knowledge about contraception methods which leads to uninformed teenagers starting their sexual life without enough knowledge on how to prevent pregnancy or sexually transmitted diseases (S.T.D.s). The instruments used in this case study were: interviews, students’ artifacts and surveys. Maturity and responsibility when taking a sex education class, students increased knowledge on language, increased awareness about having safe sexual intercourses, group joint and fellowship, and students taking a critical position towards what they learn, stand as the main findings provided by this research.
