Resumen
The present research consists of the study on the reduction of specific pollutants in water through the influence of artificial UV light implemented in the photocatalysis process using Titanium Dioxide (TiO2) as photocatalyst, which has presented at industrial level, a high versatility and capacity for degradation of pollutants. This work performs a preliminary study on the oxide-reduction of some extremely specific pollutants (turbidity as manganese oxide, sulfates, nitrates, phosphates and alkalinity for the presence of carbonates) which are crucial parameters when considering water as drinking water. This study is carried out in phases which structure and corroborate the photoinduction process for the degradation and conversion of pollutants to environmentally friendly substances, also this study explores and theorizes the products and by-products that could be elaborated after each photocatalytic reaction, finding that each theorized product has a positive and/or negative factor at an environmental level. This work develops the fundamental basis for the implementation of photocatalysis in a heterogeneous phase for large-scale implementation, for treatment and/or recovery of water with the presence of these pollutants, providing a crucial factor for social and environmental development in developed and developing countries.
