Resumen
The present work describes the results of the chemical and biological study of the extracts and fractions obtained from leaves of the Muntingia calabura plant species, classified in the Colombian National Herbarium under the collection number COL 586231, thus contributing to the research carried out To the family Muntingiaceae because this species has only a preliminary study in the country.
The separation of the extracts and fractions by column chromatography (CC), thin layer (CCD) and preparative thin layer (CCDP), allowed to obtain a mixture composed of an oxygenated sesquiterpene and a lignan (-eudesmol and sesamina) besides the Isolation of an aliphatic hydrocarbon (hexatriacontane), a glycosylated coumarin (scopolin) all first determined for the species Muntingia calabura and finally a flavonoid identified as 3,5,7,3 ', 4'-pentahydroxyflavone (quercetin). The structural elucidation of the isolated compounds was carried out using CG-EM and NMR techniques (1H, 13C, COSY, J-MOD, HSQC experiments) and through the comparison with data reported in the literature.
The determination of the antioxidant capacity was performed by the DPPH method to the extracts and fractions obtained, where it was possible to establish that these presented a significant uptake of the DPPH radical (greater than 40%) taking as reference the uptake of gallic acid.
