Resumen
The development of liturgical music in the Catholic Church is a complex phenomenon that has been shaped, among other things, by an established regulation. This thesis presents and discusses how the history of the regulations was configured until the Second Vatican Council; the discussion of legislation and its evolution allows identifying the consolidation of a conglomerate of rules that have been followed by various composers. In addition to this, the articulation between folklore and liturgical music is reflected upon as a result of the precepts originated by the Second Vatican Council. As a case study, the music of the composer Luis Torres Zuleta is detailed, who made significant efforts in the articulation of liturgical music and folk rhythms from Colombia; the composer’s catalog and the recordings that have been published were analyzed. Finally, unpublished recordings of his work are presented.
