Resumen
This research questions the educational place that Bogotá's public schools can now have in the lives of children and adolescents permeated by the ICT world, the media and digital convergence. As a proposal, this research presents a pedagogical intervention of critical media reading for fifth grade, articulating the language curriculum, the media competence and the critical and cultural aspects of the communication-education field. The consolidation of this reading proposal includes text formats different from the printed textbooks, on the one hand, because this research wanted to expand the range of textual possibilities different from traditional school books, also because the reading habits of the students, who were part of the study, were predominantly texts in audiovisual format: videos, advertising, video clips, tutorials, television series, among others. At the end of this work, one of the most important conclusions points out the challenges that the public school must face in order to guide the new generations of Bogota citizens in their critical formation, for this it must modify its educational proposal, not only with regard to the inclusion of other content, literacy and study on ICT, but its training function, making students recognize themselves as political subjects: reflective, participative and transformers of their social reality.
