Resumen
In children’s literature, a picture book is a work of art shaped by words and illustrations, that aims to perform something given to its sensibility and transferable to all kinds of public. Thus, it invites to deepen in its texts, its images, and to interpret each of its statements, just to analyze and understand the particular literary lecture that shows a social, historical, and cultural context whose knowledge is necessary to its comprehension. This study integrates two aspects: picture books and armed conflict in Colombia. Picture books, with the richness of its illustrations, try to show one side of the country’s reality that, sometimes, is concealed to the first readers: a cruel, cold, desolating and incomprehensible conflict, but nonetheless ours. Thus, this research presents an analysis of content of three Colombian picture books published between 2008 and 2012, focused on the signs of Colombian armed conflict.
