Apoyo y soporte técnico en la construcción de un geoportal para la fundación Proaves Colombia

Abstract

FUNDACIÓN PROAVES DE COLOMBIA has twenty-three natural reserves along the country with assorted spatial, environmental and statistical information, either from animal species, boundaries, plant covers, walking trails and interest points. Because of the big quantity of information and lack of a standard model for the work, analysis or distribution of it, it was planted the idea of a Geoportal website as an indispensable tool to solve this problem. During the Geoportal development work, free license programs were entirely used, finding with it to promote the handling of these programs for the creation of big projects and to show they can generate results of excellent quality, no depending of the paid license program. It was used a methodology which was distributed in three big stages: the first one was collecting information, this stage meant the most delayed and cumbersome of the whole Geoportal development, due to the big quantity of information and the different formats where it was saved. Moreover, the need of generating a space of camp information catch because of the failure of information related to the species from one of the reserves as a result of this stage, five foundations own caps of information and one of extra cap information belonged to the environmental system of Colombia were obtained and adjusted to the needs of the Foundation. The second stage covered the development phase of the standard database of Fundación ProAves de Colombia and thirdly, the stage of development of the web viewer platform where most of the necessary procedures for the correct functioning of the Geoportal are grouped.
