Resumen
The increasing demand for energy has forced governments to look for alternatives, hydroelectric energy emerged as a less harmful alternative to others such as thermal or nuclear, however the social and environmental impacts are not unrelated, thousands of people have They were affected around the world being displaced mainly due to the loss of main economic activity, dispossession, environmental impacts such as eutrophication and loss of fish diversity in rivers; The Quimbo hydroelectric plant emerged as an alternative to fulfilling the useful life of the Betania hydroelectric plant. It is located in the department of Huila, just 12 km from Betania in a wide area of Alto Magdalena, which due to its tradition has been dedicated to fishing, previous investigations have determined a serious affectation in the ichthyofauna of commercial importance mainly due to the interruption of migratory lives, the poor quality of the water and the changes from lotic to lentic flow, a situation that has generated multiple affectations of a socioeconomic and demographic. The present study is framed within the category of environmental impact and sustainability as it seeks, through research into the impact of demographic variables such as displacement, health problems, economic loss and others, to show the importance of searching for more energy alternatives.
