Evolución y tradición. Un acercamiento al bullerengue y el currulao en el bajo eléctrico

Abstract

In recent years, the electric bass has made significant advancements in various musical realms; hence arises the necessity to explore new interpretative proposals that integrate an approach of this instrument to the genres of bullerengue and currulao. From this perspective, this work proposes a brief historical context identifying social aspects and characteristic elements of both musical practices. On the other hand, a series of analyses are conducted to provide relevant aspects that will guide the interpretation of each style. Finally, the acquired concepts are employed in a compositional arrangement and a composition that demonstrate the relationship of the melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic aspects of each genre, followed by the adaptation to the electric bass.
