Resumen
This analysis for the interpretation of the drum set in four tracks: Pie-Eyed Manc, Pot Licker, Sprung Monkey, and Tchefunkta, is intended to expose the different elements that Stanton Moore employs in his interpretation of the drum set, within a specific genre, Funk. These elements are: previous influences, technical resources, concepts in the interpretation, and the utilization of fills and phrases within the proposed tracks.
Each of the tracks proposed in this research has been transcribed as part of the exploration process of the resources used by the author, thus obtaining a much more concise reference for this work.
The first aspect for the development of the analysis is to expose the set of influences that have resulted in the musical language of Stanton Moore, such as the interpretive styles of previous musicians and other musical genres that play a significant role within the tracks. Clyde Stubblefield, Jabo Starks, and Zigaboo Modeliste have been important references in the notion of the concepts analyzed in this research, since Stanton has taken on the task of deeply studying the elements developed on the drums by each of these masters of the Funk genre. Likewise, the approach to genres such as Mardi Gras Indian and Second Line find relevance, since there is a fusion of them with Funk in two of the proposed tracks (Sprung Monkey and Tchefunkta).
