Resumen
Genetic improvement is a set of continuous actions aimed at adding value to crops in order to improve their productivity, knowing the characteristics of wood is very important for the forestry industry since it defines the commercial use that will be given to individuals, for the paper industry medium to low densities are required, said desirable characteristic of each phenotype not only depends on its inherited genes (genotype), it is also subject to the response with the characteristics of the environment, to evaluate said relationship a census of 3 clonal trials of the genus Ecucalytus in the Magdalena bajo seco, Costa Colombiana, the characteristics of the wood were evaluated by the non-destructive method known as pilodyn and the genetic parameters were quantified by means of the software selegen - REML BLUP, this allowed us knowing that there was a direct relationship between the behavior of the clones and the ambie In turn, it was determined that clones given their desired characteristics could continue in the next stage of the genetic improvement program.
