Resumen
This internship project aims to support the development of an Environmental Constraints Analysis (ARA) for a wind farm project in the municipality of San Juan del Cesar, La Guajira, in collaboration with WSP Colombia S.A.S. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and the environmental licensing scheme instruments from the National Environmental Licensing Authority (ANLA) were utilized for this analysis. Four specific objectives were established: preparing geographic and alphanumeric information on the Socio-Environmental and Cultural Components (CSC), characterizing the Area of Interest (AOI), conducting an analysis based on environmental sensitivity, and creating a synthesis map of environmental constraints. The results of this process include the creation of a consolidated geographic database that enhances access to and usability of critical information, along with the identification of ecologically sensitive areas within the AOI. These findings provide a better understanding of the constraints that could impact the feasibility of the wind energy project, helping to foresee and mitigate potential negative impacts. The analysis also produced a synthesis map of environmental constraints, offering a key visual tool for informed decision-making. This internship not only contributes to the development of the wind farm project in San Juan del Cesar but also establishes a methodological framework that can be replicated in future projects in the region. The recommendations derived from this analysis aim to ensure that energy infrastructure development aligns with the conservation of the natural and social environment, promoting a balance between economic growth and environmental sustainability.
