Resumen
Citizen culture is a characteristic that entails the idiosyncrasy of citizens, in the inhabiting of the city, in the daily existence of the inhabitants or in customs, where the different traditions of the people that make up a city are combined through the history. It is very common to hear, there is no citizen culture; due to the lack of coexistence, solidarity, cooperation, civility of people in their daily work in different spaces. Nor is sports culture alien to these evolutionary processes which has been institutionalized by different countries and cultures as mediators of fashions, postures, symbols, rituals in the thinking and acting of individuals. The practice of sports in most people is free, playful, recreational, spontaneous and voluntary. For this reason, this study wants to show how basketball can contribute to the practice of citizen culture in the search for a better harmony and well-being of citizens who practice sports.
