Resumen
Insect fauna of the “Parque Ecológico Cantarrana”, with emphasis in soil and litter, was preliminarily characterized. Sampling are was subdivided in three zones (High, Medium, Low) each with different vegetation age and size mainly arboreal or shrubby. Three insect collecting methods were used: direct diurnal capture for 3 hours; extraction from 18 litter samples using Berlesse funnels and 30 pitfall traps per zone. Traps and sampling was conducted in three transects, of 100 meters each, which gave a total of 90 traps. Sampling was performed during the third week of July and the month of August during the wet season. A total of 1776 insects were collected, represented in 9 orders, 44 families and aprox. 53 morphospecies. Staphylinidae (Coleoptera), Forficulidae (Dermaptera) and Formicidae (Hymenoptera) families, predominated in the sampling, wich are organisms with saprophagous, phytophagous, predatory and omnivorous habits. Finally, it was established that the general diversity of the insect fauna sampled did not differed significantly among the sampled areas, however, there is a tendency towards greater diversity in the areas predominated by shrubby vegetation.
