Resumen
Hydrographic basins represent the basic unit of water resources, they are the area that contributes to the flow of water in a river, stream or sea. The waters of a river, stream, lake, lagoon, wetland, estuary, reservoir, aquifer, spring or swamp are supplied from the hydrographic basins, which serve to preserve the habitat of plants and animals, in addition to providing drinking water for the people and wildlife. Therefore, the diagnosis of basins and micro-basins is important, as a starting point in the establishment of guidelines to follow for their protection, which serve as a basis for users of the resource and for those who consider its use and availability in current and future projects. The diagnosis is aimed at quantifying the variables that represent the basin, such as environmental characteristics, socioeconomic and cultural characteristics. Therefore, with the present work, the socioeconomic and environmental diagnosis of some micro-watersheds and rural aqueducts of the municipality Aránzazu (Caldas) was carried out, and with the information obtained from the diagnosis, an action plan was designed for the improvement of the aqueducts identified in the municipality, as an input for improving the quality of service to the community. It is expected that this will be a tool for knowledge, information and detailed planning of the water resources that the territory has, which allows government entities, companies and associations to implement strategies that allow a better execution of projects, which will allow into an improvement in the quality of life of the inhabitants. In order to fulfill the proposed objectives a mixed research methodology was applied, which consisted of collecting, analyzing and integrating quantitative and qualitative research, thus allowing the study of each of the established variables and at the same time obtaining significant results.
