Resumen
This undergraduate thesis aims to study, perform, and interpret works by four representative composers of Latin American musical nationalism: Agustín Barrios, Heitor Villa-Lobos, Adrián Patiño, and Ramiro Isaza. Through the analysis of their works and contexts, the research seeks to identify the interpretative tools necessary to approach a nationalist musical aesthetic within a tonal framework, emphasizing elements such as accentuation, articulation, timbre, and expressiveness. The study proposes that a deep understanding of the historical, biographical, and stylistic context of each composer is key to developing an informed and coherent musical interpretation.
The research process included the structural analysis of scores, the comparison of different editions, the consultation of recordings and specialized literature, as well as the progressive construction of a personal interpretative proposal. Through this comprehensive approach, the work highlights how the popular and academic traditions of Latin America intertwine in the nationalist repertoire, allowing the performer to make informed decisions that enrich the musical performance and contribute to the critical appreciation of this repertoire within the field of guitar performance.
