Resumen
This report aims to present the proposed simplified methodology for estimating the volume of direct runoff to be retained by stormwater tanks, as a SUDS typology, along with the results obtained from applying this methodology to various projects located in the city of Bogotá. This study was developed in response to current regulations in Bogotá, which mandate that the design flow rates for segments of minor (local and secondary) stormwater drainage networks must be estimated using the Rational Method. In cases where the implementation of a stormwater tank as a SUDS typology is feasible—either in new developments or densification projects—the excess runoff volume must be calculated using the Unit Hydrograph Method developed by the Soil Conservation Service (SCS). In order to harmonize the design of SUDS typologies with that of minor drainage networks, a simplified methodology is proposed. This approach estimates the volume of direct runoff by generating a triangular-shaped simple hydrograph based on the Rational Method flow rate, with the goal of achieving a design that is both simplified and consistent.
