Resumen
This monograph analyzes the media discourse surrounding vigilante justice in Colombian news outlets such as Caracol Televisión, CityTV, and El Espectador. The study explores key concepts including vigilante justice, self-defense, social justice, and lynching, drawing on theoretical perspectives from Axel Honneth and John Rawls. From a communication standpoint, it also incorporates notions such as public opinion and agenda setting, based on the works of Walter Lippmann and Jürgen Habermas. Using a qualitative approach and a discourse analysis matrix as the main methodological tool, six news reports covering similar events were examined. The research aimed to deconstruct the discursive strategies used by the media to represent this issue, revealing how journalistic narratives and linguistic choices contribute to legitimizing, justifying, or normalizing acts of vigilante justice within the Colombian context.
