Resumen
One of the main problems that exist in the materials and that have existed from the beginning of the development of the humanity is the wear and tear. Laboratory tests have allowed the study and analysis of wear to classify abrasion resistant materials and extend the life of machines and tools, among others. In the present work the redesign, construction and commissioning of an abrasive wear test equipment was carried out, which was already being used at the Francisco José de Caldas District University, but had not been left in optimum conditions. The design of abrasive wear equipment is based on ASTM G105, which speaks of a standard method for testing wet sand / rubber disc. First is the design of the main components of the machine which are disk, lever arm system. Once this is designed, the analysis and calculation of: mechanisms and design of the other pieces is performed. After this, determine the size of the engine, and the system that regulates the necessary rpm stipulated by the standard. The construction of mechanical components and assembly of electrical systems is carried out, to finally give rise to the start of the machine that includes the test of the different mechanisms separately: mechanism of the arm system, motor and points tangent to the disk.
