Resumen
This work compiles an experience showcasing the interactive possibilities of the electric bass within different duet formats in the performance of unconventional repertoire for the instrument. As a bassist, it is my interest to demonstrate the potential and interpretive resources the instrument possesses, bringing various playing techniques closer to the approach of different repertoires. In this case, the choice of the "Four Seasons of Buenos Aires" by Maestro Astor Piazzolla is presented as a personal challenge, since it transcends mere technical display and approaches a comprehensive understanding of the musical discourse through analytical tools and theoretical comprehension of the piece, necessary elements for the development of the adaptation project for the instrument. The contribution of this repertoire is quite broad, since after a comprehensive understanding of each of the works, we identified elements from the Central European academic tradition, along with representative elements of Argentine folklore and new contemporary searches in the development of musical composition. My personal interest in the development of these processes began with an adaptation experience for two basses, of the work "Contrabajeando" by the same composer, developed by Maestro Luis Alberto Ramírez within my instrument learning process. Since then, I have expressed empathy with the composer and with the exploration of the possibilities of the electric bass in this type of repertoire. The choice of the "Four Seasons of Buenos Aires" is due to a personal liking for the way they are interpreted, the wide levels of contrast, and the expressive needs with which they must be approached, were vital within my search as a bassist. The instrumental selection of the duets is initially due to ease of working with the musicians, with whom I shared the professionalization process in musical arts at the Academia Superior de Artes de Bogotá (ASAB). However, elements of contrast were also taken into account that could characterize each of the seasons. In this sense, and due to the difficulty of obtaining a Bandoneon, the Harmonica is included, achieving a timbre with some proximity.
