Diseño sonoro. Composición original para el cortometraje animado Elephants Dream

Abstract

This document describes the compositional process in the sound design for the animated short film Elephants Dream. It is born from the compositional curiosity of recreating the entire sound space based on a sequence of determined images, in the specific case of work, for an animated short film. The main role of the soundtrack and its structure is sought from the beginning, in the development of the narrative proposed by the short film. An analysis of two fragments of soundtrack outside the short film is made, from which key information for musical creation is extracted, how to give continuity to the musical discourse within the short film, added to orchestration and instrumentation factors. Finally, the data collected is specified and the creation of the sound design is made for the short film in question, to demonstrate the importance of the soundtrack in an audiovisual work of art.
