Resumen
This thesis addresses the hybridization of the Colombian Porro musical genre with the jazz language of big bands, through the creation of an arrangement that fuses both musical styles. The use of melodic, harmonic and formal resources in the wind section of the repertoire performed by the ASAB Big Band is analyzed in detail, exploring the technical and timbral possibilities of each instrument to achieve clarity and sound coherence. The importance of disseminating this type of repertoire and the pedagogical role of universities in music education are highlighted. The integration of musical styles is revealed as a source of innovation and enrichment both for the jazz tradition and for the preservation of the authenticity and diversity of Colombian music. This study proposes new perspectives in the teaching of composition and arrangements, motivating students to explore creativity and the fusion of musical elements from diverse cultures.
