Resumen
Ethnoentomology and bioart represent valuable tools for the valuation and vindication of insect species, such as Ascalapha odorata. This study aims to contribute to the recognition and valuation of this species through the integration of both disciplines. The research question posed is the following: 'How does a proposal based on bioart and ethnoentomology contribute to the recognition and appreciation of Ascalapha odorata among the inhabitants of Vereda el Oasis in Cogua?'. First, the identification of various insects present in the village was carried out, including different species of Lepidoptera, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera and Diptera. Then, informal conversations were held with the community in order to identify their knowledge in terms of ecology, behavior and value of these insects. During this process, a discrepancy in knowledge between generations became evident, as young people had a more solid understanding of insects from an ecological point of view, while older adults showed a certain fear or respect towards them. Finally, an intervention was carried out through bio-art in which the community itself was in charge of valuing this knowledge. The young people taught the elders, and in turn, the elders passed on their wisdom to the younger generations.
