Resumen
VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) is a supply-chain-integration strategy. Sellers are responsible for making decisions regarding client inventory control and the way in which they must supply customers. To do this, a logistic-cost (inventory and distribution) optimization problem known as Inventory Routing Problem (IRP) must be solved. Although the problem has been extensively addressed, few references take into account resources for the distribution of products other than vehicles. Here we propose a mathematical model and a solution algorithm designed to solve the problem with personnel restrictions. These tools approach the business context in a dynamic environment by allowing control of inventory levels of the seller and his customers, creating a vehicle routing plan, and assigning staff to the fleet available for distribution activities.
