Resumen
This undergraduate work has been carried out with the purpose of organizing and cataloging the music of the master Gilberto Céspedes Palma, whose repertoire is part of his family's library and the SAYCO(Society of Authors and Composers of Colombia) archive. The monograph has a quali-tative correlational descriptive research method, through which through the compilation of ma-terials such as scores, discs, serial publications, as well as the practice of interviews with their families, the analysis of the pieces and of the biographical notes from the author; correlations are woven between the work, the life and the historical, political, social and cultural context of the Colombia that was established as a project of the Nation State. Céspedes' life story, the des-criptive analysis of three pieces and the general characterization of his repertoire, allow the construction of a catalog that organizes his musical work in alphabetical order. This documentary exercise enables the construction of the sound heritage of a diverse and inclusive country, to which musicians such as Céspedes who is between the borders of the "popular" and the "aca-demic", contribute significantly to memory and national identity.
