Evaluación de puestos de trabajo con video terminales en la central de monitoreo de SOLEG LTDA

Abstract

Currently, most administrative jobs use computer equipment, which allows handling, organizing and storing a large amount of information. Nevertheless; poor postures, the lack of space or lack of aproppiated work elements may influence workers' health and safety causing musculoskeletal injuries, visual and ocular disorders, among others. Since SOLEG LTDA operators spend most of their working time in front of a video terminal (VDT), they are exposed to these conditions. Therefore, it is proposed to evaluate staff's workstations, initially through both the hazards and risks assessment according to the GTC 45 and through the Nordic Kuorinka survey for the early detection of musculoskeletal symptoms, later its validation with the NTC 5831 for ergonomic requirements for VDT realted jobs and the application of the ROSA ergonomic workstation evaluation method. In addition, a survey and a measurement of lighting in the workstations was carried out according to Resolution 180540 of 2010. Results show that the staff is exposed to muscle injuries, especially in neck, dorsal-lumbar and wrist-hand regions and they are prone to poor postures and wrong use of their chairs and their peripherals. Regarding lighting, it is distributed evenly, but it is not suitable for this type of economic activity and it should be ensured that it reachs values between 200-500 lux.
