Resumen
This document describes the results of the scientometric study of the scientific production published during the years 2010 to 2020 for plant species of the Ericaceae family. The bibliographic search was carried out in the following databases: Scopus, Science Direct, Scielo, SciFinder, Web of Science, DOAJ and specialized journals such as National library of medicine. The information obtained was categorized through a double-entry matrix; indicators were established, such as the impact factor of publications, number of articles per year and continent, type of study carried out (chemical or biological), publications by gender, studies by plant organ, total content of metabolites by gender and finally secondary metabolites reported and biological activities. From the scientometric indicators it was possible to establish that the continent that has more scientific production of the Ericaceae family since chemical and biological studies is America due to the geographical disposition of the species, being the genus Vaccinium and its fruits (blueberries) the ones that have more research. Chemical studies describe that the characteristic secondary metabolites of the family are: phenolic acids, gallic acid is one of the most reported in a variety of species, flavonoids that are presented in glycosylated form, malvidin, peonidin and petunidin are own to the genus Vaccinium and finally terpenes, in addition these metabolites can be considered chemotaxonomic markers of the family Ericaceae. It was determined the relationship between the total extracts and the secondary metabolites with the biological activities reported for the vegetable species of Ericaceae family, the optimal results are presented when the metabolites act in a synergic way in the biological assays.
