This research project seeks to identify the existing risk, when carrying out preventive or corrective maintenance of medium voltage, taking into account all the elements, which interact when an electrical failure occurs. For the study of a fault, the protocol for the execution of medium voltage maneuvers was investigated, taking into account the current technical regulations and the protective equipment, which are installed to mitigate the risks when a fault occurs, taking into account all the technical aspects, the elements that make up the system were analyzed, such as the post, temporary grounding and the land where each of these was characterized, emphasizing their function and type of construction materials, in order to establish the different electrical variables of each element. Considering the constructive form and the electrical properties of the elements that constitute a temporary grounding system, the behavior of each object is studied, for this it was simulated by means of the COMSOL Multyphics software, which shows the electrical behavior of the elements. of a fault, in order to determine the potential difference generated by the electric current and establish the risks present in a fault situation. To carry out the simulations, three different assemblies were proposed, in the form of installing the temporary grounding system, with the other elements of the system and a change in the structural structure of the post, in turn the behavior of the fault with the personnel, who is carrying out the maneuver, the results obtained allow us to propose different assemblies or structural changes, in the protection elements and recommendations to minimize, the risks of electrical stresses that endanger, the integrity of people and equipment.
