Abstract

Carlos Fajardo, alumni representative on the Superior Council of the District University, discusses in an interview the progress made by his administration to raise awareness and strengthen the role of alumni. He emphasizes that, despite being the largest alumni body with more than 72,000 members, alumni have historically been disconnected from university life. The main focuses of his work have been the development of a proposed Alumni Statute, currently on hold due to the reform of the Organic Statute, and the need for a realistic profile to understand the current status of professionals trained at the institution and what they are doing. The objective of the new statute is to increase alumni participation in governing bodies such as academic and faculty councils, strengthen professional and business networks, and create a channel for their experience to provide feedback and improve academic programs, thus contributing to the growth of the university
