Abstract

The offensive odor standard in Colombia is resolution 1541 of 2013 issued by the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development, which has been in force for more than 10 years, which makes it possible to update the criteria with which it has been evaluated the standard, so that it is essential to have technical criteria, based on theoretical and bibliographical foundations at a global level that allow establishing a clearer picture regarding how other countries manage to evaluate, control, measure and monitor precursor substances of offensive odors In this sense, the main objective of this internship was to provide a comprehensive vision of the state of the art at a global and regional level in relation to offensive odors. To this end, a document was prepared that integrated global advances in terms of methods, technologies and regulation of the precursor substances of offensive odors present in ambient air and the sources of their emission in order to determine a possible update of the current standard on offensive odors in Colombia.
