Resumen
This work exposes the language of musical theater from four perspectives: music, theater, dance and production. The body is divided into five chapters that are based on analysis of fragments of global repertoire typical of the style. In the first chapter there is a historical tour that concludes in what is now known as musical theater, the second covers a musical analysis of fragments of different works in order of time beginning with the 50s. The third is a comparison between writing of libretto for classical theater (only spoken) and musical theater (spoken and sung) mentioning subjects such as the creation of characters and stories (plot). The fourth refers to dance and choreography and how these elements are necessary to use the body as a narrative medium for history. The fifth chapter tells how the musical theater in Colombia is lived and the final chapter refers to the world of production evidencing the processes and the human team that works behind the scenes in the realization of a musical. Accompanying the text are audio and video recordings of different works, as well as scores and lyrics translated from English to Spanish in order to have a good understanding of the material to be studied.
