Diseño de laboratorio enfocado a redes de telecomunicaciones para las nuevas instalaciones de la Facultad Tecnológica de la Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas

Abstract

This thesis presents the design of a network and computer security laboratory that meets the needs of the Telecommunications Engineering programme at the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas and the physical space allocated for it in the new Techné building of the Faculty of Technology. At present, the Technological Faculty of the Universidad Distrital Francisco José de Caldas does not have the appropriate equipment for a network and computer security laboratory, equipment that is necessary for the practices of the Telecommunications Engineering undergraduate programme. It is for this reason that there is a clear need for this situation, since the subjects of the curriculum require different equipment and implements for the correct development of the programmatic content. For the development of this project, elements such as the analysis of the curriculum by subject, data collection through surveys to teachers, analysis of laboratory plans, comparison of laboratories in other facilities, as well as the collection of information on equipment and implements, validation of current regulations, software selection, a market study and the final design were taken into account. In this way, the final result is the design of a laboratory that satisfies in a personalised way the existing needs of the Faculty for the training of future telecommunications engineers.
