Resumen
This study aims to carry out the economic valuation of the trees located in the town of Engativá with respect to non-use values, which refer to the benefits that the environment can provide to human beings, even if they have never used or never will used them. This assessment is made in order to contribute to the management of urban tree plantation and forest compensation policies in a real economic market.
To quantify this valuation, the contingent valuation method is used through the application of surveys to the community residing in the locality that is related to the trees located either in neighborhood parks, platforms, road dividers, etc., in order to determine how much they would be willing to pay to conserve the cultural ecosystem services of the trees related to the enjoyment of intangible goods such as the aesthetic contribution associated with the structural features.
The results obtained at the end of this work through the economic valuation correspond to the willingness to pay (WTP) on the part of the community of the town of Engativá, for conserving and maintaining the trees classified as most abundant and with greater aesthetic value. in accordance with the Local Urban Arborization Plan of the town of Engativá (PLAU, 2011), with the aim of their enjoyment and satisfaction with the existence of tree specimens close to the places where they reside. The above, so that it is taken into account in the management and conservation plans of the urban trees of the City of Bogotá.
