The title of this research is: Social Representations of gender in third grade Spanish language textbooks from Norma and Santillana publishers. In the theoretical and conceptual framework, the following categories are established: Social representations and culture, childhood, gender and its representation and the textbook as a cultural tool or device, the methodological design was approached from a qualitative approach, taking up the techniques and instruments of information collection: specialized analytical summary (RAE), bibliographic matrix, free association and semantic networks. From the implementation of these instruments, it was possible to obtain percentages and frequencies from each of the proposed analysis categories, showing as a result three social representations of gender related to: androcentrism, that is, the male protagonism in textbooks, the differentiation of the gender roles played by men and women according to their physical characteristics and the stereotypes associated with feelings and emotions according to gender (male-female) The conclusions of this research are raised from the proposed objectives and categories, taking into account the three representations of gender evidenced in Spanish-language textbooks, thus allowing us to glimpse how these texts continue to transmit content that does not show gender diversity. present in the Colombian and educational context.
