Resumen
The Nocturnal after John Dowland Op.70 is a musical work created for solo guitar by musician Benjamin Britten English in 1963 who based his composition on the song Come Heavy Sleep made by the Renaissance composer John Dowland in 1574. This is a piece form of theme and 8 variations, where the theme is the aforementioned song. The interesting thing about this work is that it is designed in a way reversive. It is subject to variations and exposing the focus only to the end of the piece. It is for this reason that researchers, musicians and musicologists describe the Nocturnal as a unique and unusual piece and one of the most important written in the twentieth century. In this analysis we will see the relationship between Come Heavy Sleep and nocturnal Britten through comparative graphs. And also we see the interpretive Nocturnal technical study based on the Technical Book Mechanism and Eduardo Fernandez learning and technical exercises by Abel Carlevaro.
