Resumen
Katia's project "Routes: Imagery of the Wanderer" explores the experiences of displacement and wandering, focusing on the context of the history of forced migrations in Colombia. The work intertwines personal reflections with narratives of violence and migration that have marked Colombian society since the late 1940s. The project examines imagery, memory, and identity through mixed artistic techniques and writing, reflecting on the transient nature of life, death, and memory. Symbols like the snail are used to address notions of belonging and the psychological impact of uprooting.
Furthermore, the project incorporates workshops with displaced children, merging stories and images to reconstruct their experiences. The work seeks to recover the narratives of the displaced and highlight the persistent scars of their experiences through a contemporary artistic lens. Historical research on peasant mobilizations, along with pedagogical work in Altos de Cazucá, enriches the proposal, seeking to unite words with images to tell the children's stories and facilitate reconnection with their former environment.
