Resumen
The following document discusses the content analysis from ten educational research articles, derived from pedagogical practices in nine Hispanic American countries, which explain proposals that include a focus directed to the development of intercultural abilities in the teaching of English as a foreign language. This analysis was conducted with the aim of studying the content evidence and their interrelations in terms of the categories established, which reveal the essence of those research articles. Findings indicate that more than being a means of communication, English embeds meanings and knowledge, establishing bonds between language, culture and identity, and directing the teaching-learning process towards understanding cultural diversity, which empowers students as planetary citizens or intercultural speakers.
