Formulación de Medidas de Manejo de la Cuenca del Rio Garagoa para la Mitigacion de los Impactos Generados por Vertimientos de Sectores Productivos

Abstract

The carried out research, identifies the pressure that productive sectors have on the water quality of the Garagoa river basin, achieving in this way the recognition of the most vulnerable water currents and the ones that require intervention for their protection. Therefore, it was necessary to identify, using the quality Index (ICA) of water, the water sources whose physicochemical characteristics were limiting the use of the resource according to quality criteria recommended by the Environmental Authorities. According to the above, it was prioritized the sub-basins of Teatinos, Garagoa and Súnuba- Somondoco for their pollution trends. According to the above, this research allows to identify productive sectors and pollution factors that affect the state of water quality of the Garagoa river basin, managing to establish the causes of the quality disturbance, and proposing an action plan to ensure the protection of water resource and ensure that all users of the water resources of the basin can satisfy do the domestic and production needs of the basin. In the development of this work it was necessary to use geographic information systems to cross information from different official sources such as the Regional Autonomous Corporations, the Colombian Agricultural Institute, the National Administrative Department of Statistics, among others. Also, to obtain results of this work it was relevant the information acquired by interviews and visits to productive sectors of the basin, such as porcine and bovine farms.
