Resumen
The purpose of this study was to understand the way in which academic institutions direct the Proyectos Ambientales Escolares (PRAE) within the dynamics of the institutions and determine what are the goals, limitations and perspectives that the implementation of these programs could have. A case study in different academic institutions such as Colegio Hogar de Nazareth, Gimnasio Vermont y Simón Bolívar I.E.D was done, using the model of an experimental study and comparative analysis. In this study, the participants of the building process, development and implementation of the PRAE of each institution were identified. By doing that, we were able to develop a time line of the most important facts about the implementation of the PRAE. A diagnosis was done of the PRAE documents by using a rubric and applying different surveys to all teachers and executives at the different institutions. Finally, an analysis of the contextual, conceptual and strategic components of each of the PRAE was developed, comparing each program to the ones recognized by the national education center (Ministerio de Educacion Nacional) The comparative analysis between the different institutions helped establishing that although the Colegio Hogar de Nazareth, Gimnasio Vermont and Simón Bolívar I.E.D have an PRAE according to the current law. An implementation, follow-up and evaluation plan of these projects does not exist because these projects do not qualify as interdisciplinary projects. These projects were created with the purpose of understanding the environmental problems in context instead.
