Resumen
This project presents a proposal about musical creation based on research of the musical genre of Currulao and specifically about the rhythm of Bambuco viejo, aimed at students of Universidad Distrital Faculty of Arts - ASAB, who are interested in studying the electric bass are their primary or solo instrument. This piece will explore various techniques used in this instrument, such as the slap, tapping, palm mute and the finger style. Additionally, the musical creation requires the bassist to sing simultaneously, creating a conversational interplay between the bassist and a small accompaniment ensemble. This document will examine the rhythms, melodic motives, rhythmic cells, accents, and timbral textures of currulao and bambuco as traditional artistic expressions from the Colombian Pacific region. The work aims to advance my qualifications as a bassist and also expand the repertoire for bassists interested in exploring these types of proposals, so they may, in turn, contribute with their own creative work.
