Resumen
Protozoa are ubiquitous primordial microorganisms, of which two large branches, pathogenic and free-living can be characterized, the latter allow to recognize the quality of the aquatic ecosystem in which they live, among other information still failure to discover. In Colombia the studies in free-living Protozoa are minimal, because it does lack conceptualization of the importance of the aquatic microfauna. This bibliographic review, contributes to the field of Limnology, where consolidated the results of various investigations of protozoa living free in Colombia, this review allows to recognize the importance of protozoa in the sciences Limnological, and therefore shows the paucity of studies in this field; that contribute to the environmental sustainability of our country, especially to the bodies of water, which we are contaminating them constantly and require greater attention, both scientific and social level, to improve our quality of life.
