Resumen
In Bogotá, structural parks play a fundamental role in the social well-being of the city's different neighborhoods by providing public spaces for recreation and sports. However, these parks are underutilized, which not only limits their positive impact on citizens' quality of life, but also limits their potential as key or focal points for urban regeneration, social cohesion, and sustainable development in these areas. The lack of adequate use of these spaces is associated with a number of socioeconomic factors, infrastructure quality, access barriers for different population groups, and the absence of public ownership of these spaces. Underuse has a negative impact on the social and economic potential that these parks could offer. From a socioeconomic point of view, these settings could be vital hubs for local economic development, creating local economies around their recreational, cultural, and educational offerings. However, these benefits are minimized by the lack of adequate use of these settings. Little research has been conducted to comprehensively analyze Bogotá's structural parks, taking into account the factors that influence their underutilization. The lack of detailed studies prevents the development of new effective strategies to maximize the use and enjoyment of these spaces, thereby increasing social well-being and the quality of life of citizens. This raises the need for an in-depth multidisciplinary study that analyzes the different factors that affect the use of parks and allows for the proposal of strategies to turn them into focal points of the city.
